U-seals, also known as U-cups, are essential components in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, designed to provide reliable sealing for both rods and pistons. These seals come in various types, each tailored to specific applications and pressures. Standard U-seals, with a square cross-section, are ideal for replacing O-rings and hydraulic packing without modifying the gland design. Deep U-seals feature a rectangular cross-section with increased axial depth, offering enhanced stability for higher-pressure applications. Beveled (B-type) U-seals have a deep cross-section with a beveled lip, providing greater sealing force and improved low-pressure performance. Square B U-seals are similar to beveled U-seals but offer additional sealing capability, allowing them to replace O-rings without changing the groove.
Made from versatile materials like polyurethane or rubber, U-seals are adaptable to various operating conditions and suitable for both dynamic and static applications. Loaded U-seals with O-rings or quad rings automatically adjust sealing force with pressure changes, while unloaded U-seals provide stable performance at consistent pressures.
